There is a new feature coming soon to recognize songs in Google Assistant. When this feature comes, Android users will not need any third-party applications to recognize songs. In Google Assistant, 'Ok Google, what's this song?' The user will get the answer when the command is given.

In the recently launched smartphone Pixel 2, 'what song is this?' is present. And soon the rest of the smartphone is expected to come in. Please note that this feature came only in the iPhone 8's voice assistant Siri in iOS 8, where Siri works with Shazam to identify the songs. But be aware that this new feature is different from the feature recognition for songs in 'Now Playing' present in Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Now playing feature is exclusively for pixel device.

The Android Police report has confirmed that this new feature will be made available to the rest of the device soon with updates to Google Assistant. Also, this new feature will work only when users ask questions.

Google's Brian Rakowski, President, Android Platform, had explained that the new always-on song recognition feature on new Pixel devices won't essentially use data to identify songs playing in the background. It essentially searches through the on-device library of tens of thousands of songs, but, doesn't use much space on devices.
