It is very important to practice Shraadh in Hinduism. It is believed that if people do not follow rituals of Shraadh then their ancestors are not able to get peace and their soul wanders in this world.

On the day of Shraadh people worship their ancestors for 16 days. This time the Shraadh is starting from 5th September and will end on 19th September.

In the scriptures like Manusmriti and Brahma Purana, it is said that in the family of the deceased ancestors, either the eldest son or junior son, and if there is no son then the Dhavavata (nati), the nephew, the nephew or the disciple is entitled to worship them.

According to astrology, the ancestors come in the from crows on the day of Shraadh. Therefore, the first meal made of food at the time of Shraadh is kept for the crow, in which the ancestors in the form of crow comes and eats it.

Therefore, when we make food in the days of Shraadh, the first meal for the cow is brought by putting it on top of our roof.
