Thugs of Hindostan have broken all existing records as it appears to the biggest opening day ever in Hindi cine industry. The film was always likely to go past the Rs. 40 crore marks and as was mentioned in the forecast column, Rs. 45 crore seemed possible and Rs. 50 crore would have been merely excellent. Yes  Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif starrer touched Rs. 50 crore*  mark . The Vijay Krishna Acharya directed affair got fabulous numbers at Box office. It is also the highest number ever collected on a single day, including Sunday which is usually the biggest ever for a new release.

Earlier only three films had managed to cross the Rs. 40 crore mark. Collections of each of these movies have been easily surpassed by the Thugs of Hindostan. These movies are -

Happy New Year – Rs. 44.97 crore (including Tamil and Telugu)

Baahubali 2 [Hindi] – Rs. 41 crore

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – Rs. 40.35 crore as per data available from Bollywood Hungama.

Worth mention here collections of today would give a clear idea around where is the YRF movie  heading. Plunge is expected since today is a working day, However if the numbers are around the Rs. 30 crore mark then even that TOH would be huge because in 2018 only one film, Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju, had an opening day of Rs. 34.74 crore and Thugs of Hindostan is in a opportunity to score somewhere around that on its second day.
