Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and records go hand-in-hand. Tendulkar, was phenomenal with the bat, reached another milestone on December 19 in 2010 when he struck another Test hundred almost seven years ago. Scoring a century in Test cricket is anyway a fantastic achievement but his 111 not out against South Africa at Centurion took him to his 50th Test hundred. Becoming first man to hit as many centuries and the only man to do so till date.

However, despite his masterclass in the first Test of the series, India went down to South Africa by an innings and 25 runs. Tendulkar scored another hundred innings of 146 runs which also happens to be his last in Tests in a career that lasted 24 years in the third and final match of the series at Cape Town.

The god of cricket had played a record 200 Test matches for India. Tendulkar, who wanted to be a fast bowler on early of his career, hammered 51 Test hundreds and 49 centuries in one day internationals. He went to the MRF pace academy but Australian fast bowling great Dennis Lillee advised Tendulkar to focus on his batting. The rest is history.

Although Master Blaster finished his career as the leading run-getter in international cricket, with 34,357 runs across formats which included 15,921 runs in 200 match in Tests, record breaking 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs and just 10 runs in 1 T20 international. He played his final match his 200th Test at his home ground in November 2013 at the Wankhede stadium when India hosted West Indies in a Test series. Sachin Tendulkar was the first male cricketer to smash a double hundred in ODIs when he struck 200 not out off 147 balls against South Africa in Gwalior on February 24, 2010.
