For the last several years, there is a debate over the practice of Triple Talaq of Muslims across the country. Now the Supreme Court has announced its historic decision today said that triple talaq does not violate Article 14 and 21 of the Constitution and the also imposed a ban on triple talaq allowing Parliament to bring in fresh legislation on the matter. Three judges among five said the practice of Triple Talaq illegal.

The center isn't in favor of Triple Talaq:

Significantly, the Bench of 5 judges was hearing the issue. The hearing lasted six days in the court. The central government had made clear in the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that it does not consider the practice of three divorce legal and it is not in favor of continuing. During the hearing, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, while requesting the court to take three divorces as a "tragic" practice, said that he took steps in the matter as the guardian of 'Fundamental Rights'.

These five judges will hear the judgment:

1. Chief Justice JS Khehar

2. Justice Kurian Joseph

3. Justice RF Nariman

4. Justice Uu Fine

5. Justice Abdul Nazir

This was the argument of the Muslim Personal Law Board:

At the same time, on behalf of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, the lawyer Kapil Sibal had said that three divorces have been going on for the last 1400 years. If Ram is born in Ayodhya, why not issue three divorce may be the subject of faith.
