Tripura CM demands, B'desh should liberalize import rules

Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 09 (NT): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb from saffron party BJP on Sunday demanded that Bangladesh should liberalize its import rules so that the products from Tripura could be easily sell to the neighboring nation.

 He said there are obstructions in exporting products like rubber sheet from Tripura to Bangladesh, though; the same products could be sent from side to side Benapole border.

He added that his team listed 17 items which Tripura want to export to Bangladesh through Akhaura border here.

As per CM Deb consideration, if these items can lawfully be exported then both nations governments will gain in the form of revenue and it will be helpful to stop illegal trade.

Worth mention here The 17 items that the Chief Minister Deb wants to sell to Bangladesh include rubber sheet, tea, cash nut, pineapples, jackfruits, ginger and black pepper.

Deb stated that he would also lift up this issue in the talks of North Eastern Council to start in Shillong on July 9. It is noted that many Central Ministers including Home Minister Rajnath Singh would be present in this meeting.
