Federal grand adjudicators in Washington on October 27 permitted the first charges in the inquiry into alleged Russian intrusive in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, CNN reported, briefed on the issue.

The charges are sealed under orders from a federal adjudicator, and it was not mentioned what the charges were, CNN said, adding that anyone facing charges could be taken into detention as soon as October 30.

U.S. intelligence agencies submitted the report in January that Russia interfered in the election to try to help President Donald Trump defeat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton through a campaign of hacking and releasing thwarting emails and publicized propaganda via social media to harm the reputation of her campaign.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into whether Trump’s campaign officials conspired with those Russian efforts. Mueller is also investigating other possible crimes, including obstruction of justice, money-laundering, and tax evasion.

Peter Carr, a presenter for Robert Mueller, refused to comment to Reuters about the CNN report on October 27.

Trump has starved of allegations that his campaign conspired with Russians and condemned probes into the issue as a witch hunt. The Kremlin has starved of the allegations.

Mueller was appointed by the Justice Department in May to lead the investigation after Trump fired FBI chief James Comey, who was leading a federal inquiry into the possible conspiracy with Russia.
