Trump may be chief guest at next year’s Republic day celebration

NEW DELHI: United States President Donald Trump has invited to attend the next year's Republic Day parade as Chief Guest by Modi-led government.The formal invitation regarding the same has been sent to the White House by the Indian government.

As per the TOI report, the Modi-led-government is awaiting a formal confirmation from the Capitol Hills. Now NDA led Govt is expected to cash in this chance as one of the biggest achievement of its foreign policy.

The report further claimed that the White house Administration of President Donald Trump is looking positively at the invitation sent by the Modi government.

The invite request to White House was sent in April 2018, which followed a series of diplomatic talks between the two nations, the report further said.

Worth mention here former president of US and Trump's predecessor Barack Obama had attended the Republic Day event in 2015 as Chief Guest.

On the other hand if President Trump chooses to attend the next year's R-Day parade, it will be another feather in the cap of the Narendra Modi government, which has aim for a second term.

On a related note The news about the Government of India inviting US president Trump to the next year's R-Day parade comes at a time when stern clashes have appeared between the two powerful nations over a wide range of topics, including trade tariffs.
