US president Trump surveys Florida, Georgia in aftermath of Hurricane Michael

Okaloosa County (Florida) [India], Oct 16 (NT): United States President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump landed in Okaloosa County on Monday (local time) to take stock of the smash up left behind in the consequences of Hurricane Michael. Florida's Governor Rick Scott and Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Brock Long amongst other officials who received the US President and the First Lady at the Eglin Air Force Base.

Trump and Melania began their visit by taking an aerial survey of the areas that have been damaged by Hurricane Michael, which made landfall in the northwestern parts of Florida on October 10. US president expressed his gratitude to the law enforcement, first responders, state, local and Federal officials who are helping in recovery efforts after -Hurricane Michael that has been hailed as the worst of its kind in 50 years.

"First responders, @fema, the job they've done is incredible," the US President stated while taking a tour through affected neighbourhoods in Florida, “The White House wrote in its official Twitter handle.

Trump and Melania met affected by the hurricane citizens and handed out relief material, as the CNN reported. The reports added that US President and his wife headed to a Red Cross centre in Georgia and they spoke with state and local officials, and local farmers to talk about the impact of the hurricane.
