Unverified reports suggest Jaish-e-Muhammad has claimed the responsibility for the attack.

In an attack on the highly-fortified Border Security Force (BSF) installation next to the Srinagar airport in the dawn of Tuesday, a jawan was killed and two of the three invaders were gunned down. Three jawans were wounded in the operation, police said.

The body of the jawan was bringing into being inside one of the complexes, police sources said.

All outstation-bound passengers were permitted towards the airport. Sources said a few flights from Delhi to Srinagar were permitted to take off.

A senior police official told The Hindu that the militants alight at the gates of the BSF’s 182 Battalion at Gogoland and opened fire to barge into the campus. “One militant was killed at the gates,” said a Srinagar-based police representative

Sources said the other two militants managed to sneak into the premises that comprise many buildings.

The BSF campus shares its boundary wall with the airport. A CRPF and a J&K Light Infantry camps are also situated in the area.

An official said all flights till 10 a.m. were called off at the airport as the entry point remained sealed. No morning flights were allowed to land in the airport.

The Army’s 53 Rashtriya Rifles have sealed the entire area.
