Now users will not have to wait for OTP in the Aadhar card. For this, UIDAI has added a new security feature in its mobile app mAadhaar. Through this, users can generate the One Time Temporary Password. They will not have to wait for OTP to come in the mobile.

Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO of UIDAI, says, "For the convenience of security and users, TOTP has been included in our Self Service Update Portal and e-base download. In the future, all OTP based base authentication applications will be migrated to TATP based base authentication.

The One Time Temporary password is the 8 digit number. It will be valved for just 30 seconds. If users have to download mAadhaar on their registered mobile, then they can create a profile from UIDAI through OTP based authentication. When this profile is created, this password will be protected. The mAadhaar app was launched in July and it has downloaded over 10 lakh users in two months.

Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO, UIDAI said, “Currently, to improve both security and convenience, TOTP has been configured in our Self Service Update Portal (SSUP) and eAadhaar download. In future, all OTP-based Aadhaar authentication applications will be migrated to TOTP-based Aadhaar authentication. It is an 8-digit long numeric string generated as one-time temporary password (OTP) by an algorithm and valid only for 30 seconds.”
