Union Budget 2018 focuses on strengthening agriculture and rural Economy

New Delhi: FM Arun Jaitley made it clear that this year's budget will particularly focus on strengthening agriculture and rural economy, taking care of senior citizens and development of infrastructure, and working with states to get better quality of education.

He hailed his government as saying NDA-led Govt will develop and upgrade rural haats into gramin agriculture markets. Infrastructure will be provided through schemes like MNREGA

Jaitley said that The Minimum Support Price of all crops shall be increased to at least 1.5 times that of the production cost.

The FM stressed on the government's focus on the farm sector, said the Centre wants to help farmers produce more and asserted that Our government has eliminated middleman by promoting direct benefit transfer.

To break the stereotype protocol, Finance minister Arun Jaitley began presentation of Union Budget 2018 in Hindi and English.

There were speculations that Jaitley may deliver this year's budget speech in Hindi.

We are allocating natural resources in a more transparent manner; there is a premium on honesty now  said Jaitley

Jaitley assured structural reforms undertaken by the Modi led NDA government will help Indian economy achieve strong growth in medium and long term.

He praised the Modi government by saying that it has successfully implemented a series of structural reforms.
