Central Board of Secondary Education, on Tuesday, announced that the CBSE Board Examinations for class 10th and 12th for 2018 would not begin from the month of February. In a report written by HT, the exams are likely to be carried in the first week of March. Officials, though, also hint that they are proposing to shorten the duration of the examination and reduce it from 45 or 50-day schedule to about a month. This also means lesser breaks between CBSE Class 10th and 12th Board Examinations.

In June 2017, CBSE was granting the proposal to start the examinations for class 10 and 12 from the month of February. The proposal was to give a longer duration for paper evaluation. Still, many stakeholders were concerned with the advancement of the board examination schedule. One of the biggest causes was that Class 10 students of CBSE schools would be going to write the CBSE Board examinations for the full syllabus for the first time in many years. However, understanding the concern of declaration of results on time and giving enough time to evaluators, CBSE officials have confirmed they are planning to reduce the time period of the examinations.

Thus, for 2018, students may see lesser breaks in between two subjects. The exact date sheet for CBSE Board Examinations 2018 has not been released. It is unlikely to be released before January 2018. However, the board has already started the process fo registrations. Reports have also confirmed that the Boards – CBSE and CISCE are waiting for the announcement of polling dates in 4 states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Karnataka. In a separate report, while speaking to TOI, a CBSE official confirmed that the date sheet has been deferred till the declaration of polling dates. The official has however confirmed that the dates would not be delayed. As per the officials, the CBSE Class 10 2018 exams are likely to be completed in March 2018 but CBSE Class 12 exams are likely to extend until the third week of April 2018.
