Why is the 8th of May special for the International Red Cross day and Red Crescent Movement?

It's the birthday of our founder Henry Dunant, who was born in Geneva in 1828 and recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize. We take this time to recognize Dunant's humanitarian contributions and those of Red Cross and Red Crescent employees and volunteers worldwide.
