Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah met BJP leaders and MLAs from Andhra Pradesh at his residence in New Delhi on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Kamineni Srinivasa and Daggubati Purandeshwari. BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav was also present at the meeting.

After the meeting, Ram Madhav spoke to the media. He informed about passing a resolution in the Andhra Pradesh state assembly to explain BJP’s stand on special category status for Andhra Pradesh demanded by CM Chandrababu Naidu.

“We will pass a resolution in which we will explain to the people of Andhra Pradesh our stand on the issue said by Andhra CM. We're as much committed to the people as him. We have done so much in the last four years,” said Madhav.

When asked about TDP-BJP reunion, Madhav said the question can be only answered by TDP.

“You will have to ask that to the Telugu Desam Party,” said Madhav.

The meeting was held a day after Telegu Desam Party (TDP) quit NDA led government and initiated a motion of no confidence against BJP. The tensions between the two parties have been escalating over granting Andhra Pradesh special category status.
