A dominant performance from West Indies in a rain-affected encounter knocked Netherlands out of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers. West Indies made a cracking start after being asked to bat first with dangerous batsmen Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis going after the bowler. West Indies reached 85 off just 8.2 overs before Gayle dismissed for a 31 balls knock of 46 runs. The run rate considerably slowed down with the wicket as Marlon Samuels took his time to settle in. Jason Holder's wicket placed West Indies in a delicate position but Samuels and Rovman Powell gave their side the ideal finish at the death to help them set Netherlands an imposing target of 310.

Netherlands were rocked early with the wickets of Scott Edwards and Ben Cooper. Wesley Barresi and veteran Ryan ten Doeschate kept the side in the chase with a century stand. But Barresi and Peter Borren were both run out in quick fashion, leaving ten Doeschate to fight on his own. Two more wickets fell before the players left the field due to another rain interruption. With the contest having already been reduced to 48 overs per side initially, play didn't resume this time as the West Indies were declared as winners by the DLS method.

Brief scores: West Indies 309/6 in 48 overs (Evin Lewis 84, Marlon Samuels 73*; Paul van Meekeren 2-37) beat Netherlands 167/6 in 28.4 overs (Ryan ten Doeschate 67*, Wesley Barresi 64; Ashley Nurse 1-25) by 54 runs (DLS method)
