Election verdict for the three north-eastern states Nagaland, Tripura, and Meghalaya were declared earlier today. The verdict marked Bhartiya Janata Party's unprecedented victory in these states. BJP has never ruled these states and with its maiden win here, it has posed challenges for the opposition.

In Tripura, BJP has swept 25-year-old left rule from the state. This victory has boosted the saffron party to eye on Kerala which is also ruled by a leftist party. BJP had deployed around 40000 party workers in the state for a door-to-door campaign which has come to fruition with this massive and unprecedented victory.

In Nagaland, the election verdict has paved way for BJP to form a coalition government with National Democratic Progressive Party. BJP has succeeded one step further in its aim of 'Congress Mukt Bharat' as the Rahul Gandhi led party has scored a duck in Nagaland assembly polls.

In Meghalaya, BJP has won merely two seats while National People's Party bagged 19 seats. Despite the low score by BJP, it is certain that both the parties will form a coalition government given their alliance. Congress yet again has been swept out of power by the people of the state. It has been ruling the state since 2009. It will be interesting to see who forms the next government.

BJP has escalated to winning 44 seats in this election after winning zero seats in the 2013 state assembly polls in Tripura while the 25-year-old left government won only 15 seats in this election. People of Meghalaya have trusted Congress yet again but the party's existence in the other two states has been threatened with the verdict.

It would be interesting to look out if BJP will continue its winning streak in Karnataka which goes to vote in May this year?
