French president Emmanuel Macron is to begin his four-day India visit from today; the visit will be aimed at strengthening bilateral economic, political and strategic engagement.

 French President Emmanuel Macron’s India- visit is significant in several perspectives.

Let's review-

In the international context, India and France can do well to form a shared indulgent of the challenges that the whole world is facing today with the global worries mainly created by USA PrsidentTrump’s troublemaking foreign policy and the stagger towards autocracy in China that can only make the handling of its geopolitical desires more complex. India and France are working together to put into practice the Paris Agreement on Climate Change which Trump has not accepted.

On green energy, the International Solar Alliance Summit 2018 will be co-chaired jointly by PM Narendra Modi and French President Macron on March 11.

The BRI’s maritime dimension is a major concern to New Delhi as China is building bridgeheads around India, but France has to be worried too because of its equities invested in the Indian Ocean.

If China’s thrive to succeed in changing the power stability with the US in the western Pacific, US weak spot will turn out to be huge trouble for Europe’s too due to the transatlantic coalition which will feel the massive impact. The Eurasian component of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) also affects France because the 16+1initiative incorporating East European and Balkan countries will eventually beat EU’s cost.
