Women cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur to join Punjab Police as DSP

Indian Women cricket team player Harmanpreet Kaur will be joining the Punjab police force as a District Superintendent of Police (DSP). She will start working as a DSP from March 01.

Harmanpreet Kaur, who was previously employed with the Indian Railways and was relieved after her request in order to join the Punjab Police. Kaur, who hails from Moga, dreamed to become a police officer which has now realised. Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh facilitated Kaur’s job shift from Indian Railways to Punjab Police.

“The Railways had sent a letter to the government conveying their acceptance of Amarinder’s request for a bond waiver to enable the cricketer to realise her dream of becoming a police officer,” said a spokesperson from the chief minister’s office.

Harmanpreet Kaur was bound to work with the Indian Railways according to the bond she had signed with Railways or she had to return the salary of five years. CM Capt. Amarinder Singh came to her rescue and requested Railway Minister Piyush Goyal for a bond waiver which the Railways accepted.

Harmanpreet took to Twitter to express her happiness and gratitude. She wrote:

“Excited about joining @PunjabPolice as DSP. Thank you Chief Minister @capt_amarinder Ji for pursuing my bond waiver with @RailMinIndia. Your support & encouragement will always keep me motivated to deliver my best. And thank you also @PiyushGoyal Ji for your help in the matter.”
