World Disability Day 2018: Significance, theme, and all you need to know

United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) has been annually observed on 3 December around the globe.O 1981 the United Nations proclaimed this as a recognised day for the celebration of the achievements of people living with disabilities across the world. “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality” is The theme for this 2018’s IDPD is. This theme concentrates on the empowering persons with disabilities for the inclusive, equitable and sustainable development envisaged in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 2030 Agenda aims to leave no one behind which is an ambitious plan of action of the international community towards a peaceful and prosperous world.

Talking about the population of disable peole, about 1 billion people around the world live with a disability – that’s roughly 15 per cent of our global population.I On this day, people promote awareness of the challenges faced by over 1 billion people living with disabilities, and the role communities and societies play in supporting them.

On this day we should pledge to become the helping hand for the people with disability and makes this world a better place for them.
