Andhra Pradesh: YSR Congress Party and other opposition parties called a statewide 'bandh', blocking national highways across the state demanding special status for the state.

TDP MPs also protested in Parliament premises, demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh. MP Naramalli Sivaprasad joined the protest dressed as a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan volunteer, carrying a wiper.

Following this uproar Rajya Sabha adjourned till tomorrow as TDP MPs walked up to the Well with placards, raising slogans,  and demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, AIADMK MPs also held the protest in Parliament premises over Cauvery issue.

Calling for the huge-demonstration, TDP Andhra Pradesh unit president K. Kala Venkatrao in a teleconference with MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and other party leaders urged them to sit for agitation and stage protest meetings in major junctions of all constituencies.

Venkatrao stated the demonstration must be nonviolent and should not cause any nuisance to the layman.

On the other hand, mass organizations associated with left parties on Thursday called for highway obstruct.

Chief Minister Naidu also declared support to obstruct and cited state interests as the primary reason.

Venkatrao said the YSRCP may cause devastation and sadism during the protest, so the TDP should not join protests along with them but hold public demonstration individually.
