BENGALURU: Amid high voltage politics drama in Cauvery disputed state Karnataka, all eyes will be on 18 Lingayat MLAs from Congress and two from JD(S) when newly CM B S Yeddyurappa will take the floor test in the assembly on Saturday.

Several BJP leaders consider Lingayat MLAs from the two opposition camps might cross-vote in favor of the trust vote, keeping in mind their own political future and to stay away from sustaining the community’s fury.

According the state BJP insider said that the party is expecting to entice a few Lingayat MLAs and claimed that there was deep-rooted dissatisfaction within the community over Congress’s pre-election gamble to separate them.

Lingayat MLAs were already upset with Congress for its odd effort to segregate the community. They are even more distress now with the party settling on to go with JD(S), which is observing as anti-Lingayat.  Notably Lingayat MLAs don’t want to be blamed for rejecting the CM’s post to Yeddyurappa, who the community deems its leader.

The Member of Parliament said Yedurappa’s appeal to MLAs to vote as per their ethics during the trust vote, soon after he swear-in as CM on May 17, was intended at enticing Lingayat MLAs from the opponent camp.
