A 20-yr youth beaten to death for stealing an iron rod in Chennai

CHENNAI: Eight persons were arrested by Greater Chennai police in connection with the lynching of a 20-year-old man who was accused of stealing iron rods from a construction site. The incident took place on  Monday night in Toddhunter Nagar in Saidapet, Chennai.

The deceased, identified as Shahin Sha Khader (20), and his friends Vinod (20) and Hemananthan (20) were accused of stealing iron rods from a construction site.

According to witnesses, the three were allegedly stealing iron rods from a location where the government quarters were being built, the police claimed. Construction workers and site engineers arrived to the location after learning that iron rods were being stolen from the location, according to the police. Hemanthan eluded capture while Vinod and Syed Sha Khader were apprehended.

According to police sources, Hemanthan alerted the families of Vinod and Syed Sha Kareem to the assaults taking place at the construction site.

When Vinod and Syed Sha Karim's families arrived, they drove them both to the hospital. While Vinod was getting better, Syed Sha Karim passed away from his wounds in the hospital.

However, police were on in search of  two persons who had concealed the information regarding the assault.
