Ludhiana: In Ludhiana, a teacher allegedly sexually harassed his student. The victim is visually impaired. The accused used to teach physical education to the victim. The obscene attempt was caught on the surveillance cameras. The 45-year-old accused was identified as Himanshu Ranjan. He was allegedly touching the victim inappropriately. A complaint was filed against the accused by the victim's mother.
Allegedly, the accused had kept his chair next to the victims. The victim initially ignored the accused. However, when he continued touching her, she narrated her ordeal to the parents. Her parents then informed the school authority about the incident.
While talking to the Hindustan Times, Ajit Singh, the assistant sub-inspector stated that the accused was booked under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on account of assault of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty) and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim had lost her eyesight after suffering from tuberculosis in her brain. The accused is absconding.
In a similar incident, On March 24, an assistant coach was accused of sexually harassing students. He was employed at a school in Pune. The accused allegedly molested four minors at the school. The incident came to the fore after one of the victims narrated her ordeal to her parents. After one victim spoke up, other girls of the school followed her. The police booked the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
