GST Council Meet: A 7 member committee will be made to discuss kerala cess proposal

New Delhi:Today the 30th meeting of GST Council was organized, in this meeting, several issues including Kerala floods and GST Revenue were discussed.Finance Minister Arun Jaitley joined the video conferencing in this meeting and has discussed about all these important topic.

FM jaitley said that Detailed presentation took place about revenue position. It had been decided earlier that GST council secretary will visit revenue deficit states & analyse it. It was found that there's no revenue shortfall in consuming North-east states.

Discusising about the tax of Bihar the FM said that Bihar imposed additional VAT in 2015-16 when tax reduced due to the prohibition of alcohol. Taxation inflated by 27% as compared to the previous year. Bihar benefited from this aberration.

This year Kerala suffered economic loss due to worst flood in its history. FM said that a 7 member committee will be made which will discuss the Kerala Cess proposal. He further said that this 7 member committee will have members of North East, hill and coastal states. Committee members will be announced soon.

Earlier, demand for cess to raise additional funds to relieve the state of Kerala was raised and now Finance Minister has said that he a committee will be made which will discuss the proposal.
