Major Accident: Devotees suddenly drowned in river while immersing idol

Mathura: A heart and tragedy are unfolding from Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, the country's largest state. Some devotees who had come from Bharatpur district to immerse the statue of Mata Rani at Mathura village Sultanpur Yamuna Ghat on Thursday evening drowned in the Yamuna. Four devotees started drowning in the Yamuna during the immersion of the statue. The people standing in the corner started shouting at the drowning persons, everyone grabbed each other's hands but they could not cope.

When the same villagers tried, 3 were rescued but one person could not be traced till late in the night. The Thana Refinery police are searching for the devout youth with the help of divers. In fact, 20-25 devotees had come to Amla Sultanpur Yamuna Ghat village in the Thana Refinery area to immerse the statue of Mata Rani in a tractor-trolley from Village Charlie Ganj in Bharatpur district.

Four persons who had landed in the Yamuna water with the same statue started flowing along with the statue and started shouting. The residents present in the vicinity pulled three devotees out of the river but one young Krishna was swept away by the strong flow. With this, the inspector-in-charge of the police station Lokesh Bhati said that 20-year-old Krishna alias Kalua has drowned in the Yamuna and the search is still on.
