Gurgaon: An appalling incident of child abuse surfaced from Gurgaon. A man allegedly raped his eight-year-old daughter repeatedly over several months after his wife died. The alleged incident took place in Pataudi area. To be noted that a complaint was lodged by the neighbours who noticed changes in the girl’s behaviour over the past few days. When they asked her for the reason behind her sadness, the victim revealed the torture she was being subjected to by her father who used to rape her.

Here it is to be noted that She told that after the death of her mother, her father used to assault her sexually and this had been going on for several months. The accused had raped the minor twice last week, causing immense physical and mental injuries. It is to be noted that Shamsher Singh, ACP (crime) told NDTV that after neighbours alerted the police, the man was arrested under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO). He further mentioned that the minor girl was recused and sent to children observation centre for counselling. In a similar case last week, a Bengaluru based businessman has been charged under Prevention of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old daughter. The wife of the accused died in 2016 when she delivered her third child. The girl lived with his father at his Bengaluru residence after the death of her mother.

However it is worth mention here that the reports further suggest that the kids confided in their grandmother about their horrific experience last year. The suspect's mother also confronted him about the mistreatment and sexual harassment after which she decided to file an FIR against her son. Reportedly, Earlier, police had booked the 45-year-old man under IPC section 324 (voluntary causing hurt) and 506 (act with criminal intimidation) after his mother and sister accused him of molesting his daughter. The accused's family later approached the Indore court for demanding POCSO Act be included in the already registered FIR.
