A fierce fire broke out in the chemical factory of Meerut, 18 laborers were trapped inside

Lucknow: A massive fire broke out in a chemical factory in Mawana of Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. It is believed that there was a major explosion in the factory before the fire started. When the fire broke out in the factory, about 18 workers were trapped inside the factory, who were rescued. Smoke emanating from inside the factory was telling the reality of the fire.

The fire was immediately reported to the police. After which several fire tenders have reached the spot to douse the fire. However, the information about how the fire started is not yet available. Police said that a fire broke out in a chemical factory of Mahalaxmi Group located in Kasba Mawana, about 24 km from the district headquarters, on Wednesday afternoon when one and a half dozen laborers were working inside.

The fire took a formidable form in no time with the explosion as the barrels filled with chemicals caught fire. With this the smoke spread far and wide. As a precaution, the surrounding area was immediately evacuated. The Chief Fire Officer said that prima facie the fire appears to be caused by an electrical short circuit. Which has not been confirmed yet. Efforts are on to douse the fire.
