NEW DELHI: Government employees at Parliament are in for a wardrobe update as they prepare to transition to the new Parliament building on September 19th. In an effort to mark this significant shift, the National Institute of Fashion Technology has designed fresh uniforms for these workers.

The relocation process is set to take place on Ganesh Chaturthi, a day of auspicious beginnings. A special pooja ceremony has been scheduled for September 19th to bless the new premises, and there is even talk of a joint session of both Houses of Parliament convening there.

Before the grand move, on September 18th, both Houses will conduct their proceedings within the old Parliament building. This day will also be dedicated to reflecting on the historical significance of the old Parliament and its journey since its construction.

Now, let's talk fashion. Instead of the traditional band-gala suits worn by employees in the secretariat, they will be donning a fresh look. Their attire will feature a magenta or dark pink Nehru jacket paired with dark pink shirts adorned with a lotus emblem. Completing the ensemble will be khaki-colored pants.

Not to be left out, the marshals of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will trade their current attire for Manipuri pagdis, adding a touch of tradition to their appearance. Even the security personnel stationed within the Parliament premises will undergo a uniform transformation. Their safari suits will be replaced with camouflage attire reminiscent of soldiers.

Additionally, employees working in the table office, Parliament reporting team, and notice office will also see a change in their uniforms. All three groups will sport cream-colored shirts embellished with a lotus flower, topped with pink band-gala jackets. The revamped uniforms symbolize a fresh start as the government machinery shifts to its new home.
