New Delhi: On Monday, A joint team of specialist staff and Central District Police arrested four accomplices of gangster Keshav Kakkar who is currently in judicial custody in Delhi's Rohini jail. The arrests were made on the basis of a complaint by a city-based businessman who claimed that he was being extorted by gang members of Kakar.

However, Sleuths recovered one country-made pistol and two live cartridges from the suspects at the time of the arrests reported news agency ANI. A case has also been registered in this regard and an investigation into the matter is currently underway. The matter came to light last week when the businessman from Karol Bagh approached police and complained of being extorted by Kakkar and his gang members.

To be noted that in his complaint, the businessman told police officials how the gang members demanded 'protection money' from him. They visited my office and home and even opened fire to scare me, he said. An investigation into the matter by Delhi police has revealed that the location of the mobile phone tower used to make the extortion calls were traced to be near Rohini Jail. A report by Times of India has asserted that police are now seeking custody of Kakkar from the court to interrogate him.

Deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Mandeep Randhawa told media outlets that the arrests of Kakkar's gang members were made by a team led by assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Naresh Kumar and inspectors Lalit Kumar and Dheeraj Singh. A similar matter had come to light earlier this year when convicted gangster Rahul Kala was found to be making extortion calls from inside Tihar jail.
