According to reports, photographer Nick Brandt got shocked when he arrived at the coastline of The Ntran Lake in northern Tanzania. The statue of cattle and birds was seen on the banks of the lake. Those statues belonged to real dead birds. In fact, the animals and birds that go to the lake water become calcified into stones in a little while.
Brandt wrote in his new photo book, "No one certainly knows how it feels to be dead than the highly reflective nature of the lake misled them as a result of which they all fell into the water.' He writes, "The amount of salt and soda in the water is very high, so much so that it deposited the ink of my Kodak film box in a few seconds.'

A high amount of soda and salt in water protects the dead body of these birds. The level of alkaline in this lake water is ph9 to pH 10.5, i.e. alkaline as ammonia.
