RAMPUR: A leopard terrorising residents of Arsal Parsal village in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur district was finally apprehended by forest officials after a 45-day search operation. In September, a villager saw the leopard for the first time. Its frequent sightings later caused fear and panic among local residents.

The forest deparment had issued a warning and began combing operations. The leopard was finally caught after several attempts. After a medical examination, the big cat will be released into the forest area in Bijnor district, according to forest officials.

The presence of the animal in the area was confirmed in September by a CCTV camera grab taken from the farmhouse of Satnam Singh, the village head. Rajiv Kumar, the DFO, stated that "The villagers had become so terrified that they had stopped going to their fields. The leopard will be released into a protected forest area in Bijnor district after undergoing medical examination ".
