New Delhi: Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana on Friday expressed concern over the shortage of courts in the country. He has said that justice is possible only after there is enough number of courts. During this time, he also expressed concern over the vacant posts in the tribunals and said that there is a lot of burden on the judiciary.
It may be recalled that, recently, the CJI had said that there is a new trend of the government tarnishing the image of judges. He called it "unfortunate". In fact, the CJI was addressing the Telangana State Judicial Conference 2022 on Friday. During the event, the CJI said, "The infrastructure of the judiciary and recruitment to the vacant posts are the main concern. Access to justice is possible only when we get adequate number of courts... Our judiciary is already under a lot of burden. '
Let me tell you that CJI has been talking publicly about infrastructure. This year, he questioned the Centre for not filling up the vacant posts even after the Supreme Court asked it. He had said that it seems that the bureaucracy is taking it lightly. The bench headed by Raman had said, "We want to know what your opinion is. The last time you said there were some appointments. Nothing is happening after that... The bureaucracy is taking it quite lightly. It would be nice to hear and issue orders. '
