Unnao: The accused Sadhu, who has been absconding for 32 years, has been arrested by Unnao police. The ASP said that Narayan, who had been absconding since being sentenced to life imprisonment in 1982, was arrested near Sonic Mod on Saturday. The alleged sadhu lived in various districts in costume. He was also booked for kidnapping and raping the girl at Barra police station in Kanpur along with the murder case in Unnao.
ASP Vinod Kumar Pandey told the press that 10 people, including village Dhirkheda resident Shesh Narayan, who came under Ajgan police station area, had shot dead Babu Singh, a resident of the village in 1982. All the accused were arrested and put in jail by the police in the case. After that, everybody was bailed out and then the case went on. The court had in 1984 convicted all the accused and sentenced them to life imprisonment. On receiving the information of punishment, Shesh Narayan left the village and escaped and stayed in the garb of the sadhu sage in various districts and started doing story reading.
The ASP said that he was also booked for kidnapping and raping a young woman in 2013 at Barra police station in Kanpur. In both the cases, the absconding accused has been detained by Ajgain police from Sonic area on Saturday. He said, 10 persons were accused in the case, eight of whom have died while one is in jail.
