VISAKHAPATNAM: A case has been registered against a person for spreading fake news of Tirumala temple, the richest of Hindus. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board, which oversees the temple's management, filed a case against the man on Saturday. The TTD alleges that fake news has damaged the religious sanctity of the Tirumala temple and the religious faith of crores of devotees has been hurt.

According to TTD vigilance officers, Arun Katapalli is a member of the Whatsapp group named Annuvuna Hindutva. He was constantly running Edukondalupai Esumandiralu (Church on Seven Hills), a campaign of misleading information. Vigilance officials said that Arun took pictures of the solar pipe on the watchtower of the forest department in the Karakambadi hill area of Seshachala forests and showed it as a cross mark.

TTD vigilance officials lodged a case against Arun at the Two Town Police Station in Tirumala on Saturday. Also, the TTD warned that legal action will be taken against whoever will spread fake news against the temple and hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus. On this matter, the police has said that we have received a complaint, action will be taken soon.
