Chennai: In the Pammal area in the city a shocking incident that took place, when a 13-year-old school girl died before the eyes of her father, as a minibus ran over her, while her father attempted to overtake the bus on his two-wheeler.

The incident about a place with  Ahmed (49) a resident of Gurusamy Nagar in Anakaputhur, works in a private company. His daughter Aliya Thasil, aged 13, was studying in a private school in Chennai Teynampet. Ahmed used to drop her daughter Aliya at Jawaharlal Nehru Road, her school bus pick up the point in Pammal, every day around 7.30 in the morning. As usual for all days, Ahmed went to drop Aliya at the pick point on his two-wheeler. By that time the school bus had already left. So Ahmed decided to drop Aliya at the Pallavaram bus depot, from where she could get a bus to Teynampet to reach school.

On the narrow road from Pammal to Pallavaram, Ahmed reportedly was driving a little faster than usual, he tried to overtake a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation minibus and lost control and fell before the bus. In this accident, while Ahmed managed to get away with some injuries, his daughter Aliya died on the spot, as the minibus ran over her.

Even as the passersby were in a shock, the driver of the bus got down and fled away from the location. The Police registered a case and arrested the driver of the bus. Ahmed and Aliya were also travelling on the bike without wearing a helmet.
