Mumbai: On Saturday, In an appalling case reported from Palghar district of Maharashtra, a 10-year-old girl was allegedly repeatedly raped by a 12-year-old boy. The local police confirmed the incident. The news agency reported that the minor girl's parents lodged a complaint against the accused. As per the complaint, the minors are neighbours and the boy had been raping the girl from the last four months. 

It is worth mentioning here that an official of Mokhada police station told the agency that a few days back, the girl complained of acute pain in her abdomen and her parents took her for a medical checkup. The doctors informed the parents that the girl was pregnant.  Meanwhile, the minor girl's parents asked her about the incident that's when she narrated her ordeal.

Thereafter, they filed a complaint against the boy. The minor boy has been booked under sections 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO). However, the police mentioned that the minor boy has not been detained yet and investigation into the case is underway. 

In a similar case reported from Tamil Nadu, a Class 12 student was booked for impregnating a minor girl who was found to be eight months pregnant. Both the girl and the boy were students of a government higher secondary school near Melur and lived in the same locality. The matter came to light when the minor girl's parents discovered that she was eight months pregnant.
