A healthy mom to be makes for a healthy baby. While some people think you can eat whatever you want when you are pregnant– healthy food choices are essential for a healthy baby. Eating healthy when you’re expecting can be difficult: You have crazy cravings and an even crazier schedule. But eating right is important to help you have a healthy pregnancy, so check out these nutritious pregnancy meal plans.

Breakfast – 2 scrambled eggs with some grated zucchini and parsley along with whole wheat bread.

Mid-morning – include almonds, walnuts, pistachios, apricots

Lunch – a tuna salad

Mid-afternoon – Carrot or Miso soup/ a whole fruit

Early evening – orange juice or a chicken sandwich

Dinner – south west grilled chicken and steamed beans

(Recipe for South west grilled chicken)

Ingredients:

2-3 lbs chicken drumsticks OR thighs (or a mix of both)

2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil (you could also substitute avocado oil)

2 teaspoon coarse sea salt

2 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper

1 teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon onion powder

½ dried thyme

½ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon chili powder

¼ teaspoon cayenne powder

Instructions:

Pre-heat your barbecue close to 500 degrees.

Add oil and all spices and herbs to a bowl and stir until combined.

Put chicken into either a bowl and add the spice and oil mixture.

Mix the chicken and spice mixture together until chicken is well coated.

Put the chicken on the grill and close the lid for about 10 minutes, and turn it down to a lower temperature.

Flip chicken and cook for another 5 minutes. Turn a little more frequently for more even cooking.
