New Delhi: On Wednesday, a 20-year-old rape accused has been beaten to death allegedly by the victim’s family in Gujarat's Rajkot on Wednesday. The family and relatives of the minor girl brutally thrashed the accused, who succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

According to the sources, the police have arrested the victim's father and four of her relatives. The family filed a police complaint against him on April 13. The victim's family alleged that the accused forced the minor into a physical relationship in the pilgrimage town of Chotila in Surendranagar district. The Rajkot police had filed a complaint against the accused Divyesh under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and various other IPC sections.

According to police, on April 23, the accused was taken to a factory in Balaji Industrial Estate-II area and was brutally thrashed by the victim's family.

“Divyesh Gondaliya, a resident of Kotharia area in Rajkot, was on ventilator since April 23. He was brought to the hospital after he was severely beaten by the five people, including the father and relatives of a 12-year-old girl whom he had allegedly raped twice,’’ the Hindustan Times report quotes spokesperson of Aji Dam police station as saying.

Police said the accused Divyesh came in contact with the girl through Facebook. The police have also filed a case against the girl's family for assault and attempt to murder. A police officer said that a murder charge will also be added in the case following the death of the man. The police have arrested all the five family members of the girl.
