Mathura: In Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh these days the work of digging the sewer line is going on a war footing. Where, during the excavation by JCB, on Thursday evening, a statue of two thousand years old Agnidev and an inscription has been found. Police Govind Nagar in-charge has given this information on Thursday night. It is worth mentioning that, under the development schemes by the state government, the Municipal Corporation these days is getting excavation work done from Bharatpurgate to Diggate to get the sewer line inserted.

On Thursday evening, JCB was in the midst of digging in the middle of the road that an ancient stone statue of eight meters depth was found. After getting the information of which Diggat in-charge Ajay Kumar Singh reached the spot, he took the idol and informed the higher officials via phone. While giving information, Archaeological Department officer Vinay Gupta said that some remains of the statue have been found during the excavation, the statue appears to be of two thousand years old Agni or Yaksha Dev. There must have been a temple or palace. The inscription that has come out with it has some shape and inscription written on it.

Giving information on Thursday night police station, Govind Nagar in-charge Ajay Kumar said that the archeology department has refused to take this idol. Now we will give it to the museum. On Friday, it will be sent under the supervision of the Museum District Administration at Dampier Nagar.
