This place is in Saraiya Tiwari village of Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. There is an ancient Shiva temple which is known by people as Jharkhandi Mahadev. The biggest feature of this temple is that there is no roof in this temple. Locals say that many times the roof was tried to make but the roof was never ready. Even today, Jharkhandi Mahadev Shivling is situated in the open temple.

The unique thing about this Shivling is that the Hindus and Muslims living here have the same respect. Hindus pay their worship and Muslims pay prayers. It is said that it is self-geo-Shivling. It means that Shivaling had appeared here.

It is said that once Mohammed Gajnavi had tried to break it by listening to the fame of this Shivalinga but he and his soldiers could not break this Shivling. When he could not do this, he gave the holy book of the Qur'an on Shivling. He was thinking of writing Kalma that after this Hindu will not worship but it happened. After writing Kalma it became Shivling and Famous.

In today's date this Shivaling community of Hindus and Muslims regard it as the main center. It is said that here in the month of Savan, lakhs of devotees come to worship. At the same time Muslims also pay their prayers. It is said that this temple also has a pond where the bath is cured of leprosy.
