New Delhi: According to reports, a special flight operated by Tata-owned Air India (AI) will repatriate Indian nationals, including students, who had registered for a safe return from Ukraine's Boryspil airport tonight. "The first of Air India's three special flights from Ukraine to India, AI-1946, will take off tonight carrying Indian nationals," an airline official stated.

On Monday, an Air India ferry flight departed for Ukraine, carrying Indians who wished to return home. During the conflict in Ukraine, Air India had already declared that three flights from Ukraine to India would be available for Indian nationals, including students.

"On February 22, 24, and 26, Air India will operate three flights between India and Ukraine," the airline announced. As part of the special operation for Ukraine, the Boeing Dreamliner AI-1947 flight from Delhi has taken off. It has a seating capacity of more than 200 people. In the morning, a Dreamliner Boeing B-787 took off from Delhi airport bound for Boryspil, Ukraine.

Concerned over the rising tensions along Ukraine's border with Russia, India underscored at a special meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday the need for all parties to display maximum caution and accelerate diplomatic efforts to reach a mutually agreeable settlement.
