KRISHNAGIRI: A mind-numbing series of events have come to light from the Hosur government hospital in Karnataka where a stray dog that entered the Hosur government hospital was shockingly found feeding on the corpse of a newborn infant which according to its relatives was thrown into the garbage bin by the hospital staff. The child's kin has accused hospital staff of throwing his body in the garbage bin where it was fed on by a stray dog who managed to enter the hospital premises without any resistance.

According to the source, a resident of Karnoor village near Krishnagiri, M. Nagamma gave birth to a male baby here in the Hosur GH on Wednesday evening. The relatives had the dead baby in the hospital ward with a plan to transport it the next day because they could not carry the corpse at the night. The newborn infant, which recorded the low birth weight of less than one kilo was kept in the “neo-natal intensive care unit”. The baby died on Wednesday night and it was handed over to its biological mother in the maternal ward.

However, other patients objected to the corpse being kept in the maternity ward which is when the infant’s relative allegedly packed the infant's body in a plastic bag and kept it in the hospital toilet facility after other patients objected to keeping the corpse of the newborn in the hospital ward. The same plastic bag was allegedly thrown in the garbage bin by sanitary workers during a clean-up on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, people who went to the isolated place in the hospital premises found a stray dog mauling the body of the newborn and informed the hospital staffs.  After that, hospital authorities were alerted and the infant's half-eaten corpse was recovered and shifted to the hospital mortuary where an autopsy was conducted before it was handed over to the parents.
