Jalandhar: In the era of knowledge, many people in the country are still obsessed with superstition. One such case of superstition has come to light from Jalandhar in Punjab. In Jawahar's Basti Bawa Khel area, the female teacher forcibly married her 13-year-old student to remove the 'Manglik Dosh' in her 'horoscope'. The woman told the police officials that her family was worried as she was not getting married due to 'Manglik Dosh'.

The family priest reportedly suggested that she would have to undergo a symbolic marriage with a minor boy to get rid of the 'dosha'. After the priest's suggestion, the teacher told the boy's parents that the boy would have to stay at his house for a week for tuition, and during this time he got married. On returning home, the boy told his parents all the problems. After this, the boy's kin reported the matter to the police. According to the complaint, the boy alleged that the teacher's family performed a Haldi-Mehndi ceremony and a honeymoon drama was also performed.

Later, there was the drama of breaking the teacher's bangles and becoming a widow, and the family also organized a condolence meeting. Not only this, but the housework was also done by the boy during this week. According to Gagandeep Singh, station house officer of Basti Bawa Khel police station, the boy's parents had lodged a complaint but withdrew it after a compromise was reached between the two sides.
