Mumbai: A 12-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide at her residence in Nagpada area by hanging herself to utensil rack. The police are investigating the case. According to a report , Senior Inspector Shirish Gaikwad of JJ Marg police station said, the girl was identified as Gulshan Mohammad Guddu Shah, who hanged herself with a dupatta on Friday night when nobody was at home. Reportedly, the incident came to light when the victim's uncle visited their home despite repeated knocks no one opened the door. He then rushed to Gulshan's father's shop nearby and when they opened the door. They found her hanging from a wall-mounted utensil rack, Gaikwad added. The PTI report mentioned, the girl was immediately rushed to a local hospital where authorities declared her dead on arrival.

Here it is to be noted that the deceased was a Class 6 student and on Friday she had returned home with her siblings at around 9 pm. Meanwhile, the rest of the siblings went down to play after that but she was at home. However, the local police are investigating the case and an investigation is underway to find out the cause of death.  According to a study published by “The Global Burden of Disease Study”, India accounted for 37 per cent of global suicide deaths among women and 24 per cent among men in 2016. Published in the Lancet Public Health journal, the report stated that 63 per cent of all suicide deaths reported in India were in the age group of 15-39.

However, in a similar case reported from Bengaluru, mental health took the better of another person as a depressed woman allegedly poisoned her children and killed herself. The woman allegedly poisoned her two specially-abled children before committing suicide. The 50-year-old deceased woman hailed from Tamil Nadu and was a resident of Electronics City police station mills. The woman had problems in the married life and they also developed differences because of the specially-abled children. Following continuous fights, the deceased shifted to a separate house and was having trouble for not having a steady income.
