Ghaziabad: In a bizarre incident, a scathing instance of kidnapping in broad daylight has come to light from Rajendra Nagar in Ghaziabad city of Uttar Pradesh which falls in the National Capital Region (NCR). A couple abducted the six-month-old son of an e-rickshaw driver from his home in Sector 5 on March 25 when the father was out for work and the mother had gone to buy groceries. Here it is to be noted that in his complaint, the boy's father Santosh Kumar claimed that his son was lifted at around 6 pm on Monday when the child was alone at home. A couple came on a motorcycle with a child aged three and abducted our son Sher Singh, said Kumar. He further added that the family suspects the couple to be a man and woman who came to their home on March 22 looking to rent a portion. They were looking for rented accommodation and wanted to start an online business but I told them that there were no vacant portions in the area, said the father. The parents also stated that two closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the area captured the couple riding away on their motorcycle with the two children.

To be noted that footage retrieved from the cameras shows the couple driving up to the complainant's home on a motorcycle along with a three-year-old boy. They halt at the residence and the woman goes inside after making the child accompanying her stand guard at the gate. She then walks out and talks to the man for a brief moment before going back into the house only to return with the infant. The couple then sat on the motorcycle with the infant between them and the child sitting on the petrol tank and rode away.

However, the family of the abducted child has handed over the footage in their possession over to the police. A first information report (FIR) was filed based on the complaint and a case has been registered against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Superintendent of police (SP), Shlok Kumar told media outlets that a team has been roped in to trace the child and CCTV footage is being closely examined to procure more clues which will help the police locate the abducted child as soon as possible.
