Chhatarpur:  A tragic accident took place in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. An auto-rickshaw carrying devotees going to Bageshwar Dham collided with a parked truck, killing 7 people and leaving more than 4 people seriously injured. The people killed in the accident include the elderly and children. All these devotees had set out from Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh to visit Bageshwar Dham.

The accident took place on Tuesday morning around 5 am on NH 39 near Kadari village. The devotees were traveling in an auto-numbered UP 95 AT 2421 and when the auto driver dozed off, he did not see the truck (PB 13 BB 6479) standing in front and collided with the truck at high speed. The collision was so severe that many people sitting in the auto fell out on the road. 5 people died immediately on the spot, while two died during treatment in the hospital. The rest of the injured are being treated at Chhatarpur District Hospital.

One of the victims of the accident has been identified as a Lucknow resident. The family was going to Bageshwar Dham to perform the tonsure ceremony for their one-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, both the girl and her father died in the accident. The two sisters and the mother of the family are badly injured. The remaining five deceased have not been identified yet.

On receiving information about this tragic accident, senior police and administration officials immediately reached the spot. They made arrangements to take the injured to the hospital and enquired about their condition there. Police have started investigating the incident and it is being said that this accident happened due to the auto driver dozing off.

This accident will remain a painful memory for everyone, especially for the families who have lost their loved ones in this incident. The administration is providing all possible help to the families of the deceased, and special attention is being paid to the treatment of the injured.
