Kolkata: Polling is underway for the fourth phase of assembly elections in West Bengal. Violent incidents have become common in Bengal elections. In Behar district, unidentified persons shot dead a youth who had come to cast his vote for the first time outside a polling booth. The police have been informed in this regard.

TMC alleged that the BJP was behind the murder, while the 'Saffron Party' claimed that the victim was a polling agent at the polling station and blamed the TMC in the state for the murder. A police official said, a youth named Anand Barman was dragged outside booth number 85 in the Pathantuli area of Sitalkuchi and shot dead. Polling was underway at the time of the incident.

He said, after the incident, clashes broke out between TMC and BJP workers, and several people were injured when bombs were thrown outside the polling booth. Central forces had to resort to lathi-charge to control the situation. "We received information that a man was shot dead outside a polling booth at Sitalkuchi in Behar district, an election official said. We have asked the supervisor to submit a report at the earliest and have taken erudition about the situation.''
