New Delhi: This year Army Day Parade is going to be something more special. A fourth-generation female officer will lead the Army Day Parade on 15 January. The Army Day Parade will also include a military contingent of men. The woman officer who will lead the parade is Tania Shergill. Tania Shergill is the captain in the Army's Signal Corps who has got the responsibility to lead the parade this year. Tania Shergill, who holds a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communications, joined the Army in March 2017 from the Officer Training Academy, Chennai.

Tania Shergill's entire family has lived in the Army. His father served as artillery (artillery), grandfather armored (armored) and great-grandfather (infantry) in the great-grandfather Sikh regiment. A military officer has told the media that Tania is the first female officer of the fourth generation to have the opportunity to lead the men's parade. On Republic Day last year, Captain Bhavna Kasturi was the first woman officer to lead the parade of all men.
