Ahmadabad: After registering a landslide victory in the Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is now eyeing the Gujarat elections. The AAP has challenged the BJP and the Congress in Gujarat. The AAP has said that the power in Gujarat, which was revolving between the two parties, is now looking for alternatives. The AAP has planned to make a dent in Congress to take on the BJP. On his two-day visit, Delhi CM and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal also met several "angry" Congress MLAs.
The AAP has also prepared its plan for the Gujarat Assembly elections. Senior party leaders will now launch a door-to-door campaign in Gujarat. On March 27, Arvind Kejriwal met Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) leader From Dediapara with MLA Mahesh Vasava. Let us know that AAP is preparing for an alliance with this party. There are currently two MLAs of BTP. Hitting out at AAP, Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi termed them as the B team of BJP. Manish Doshi has said that any party in the state can campaign, but the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been brought by the BJP. The BJP has now realised that its method of polarisation is not going to succeed.
The unit of AAP in Gujarat was formed in the year 2013. However, AAP got its first Gujarat president in 2017. AAP had appointed 79-year-old mathematics professor Kishore Desai as the president of the Gujarat unit. That year, the party contested 29 of the 182 assembly seats. In many areas, AAP candidates had got less votes than NOTA. The AAP then restructured the organisation in 2020. Kejriwal has made 32-year-old Gopal Italia the head of the state unit. Italia was earlier a police constable and came into the limelight after wielding a shoe at the Home Minister.
